Julia was born and raised on the North East coast of England and obtained her law degree at the University of Teesside before emigrating to Canada with her family in 1999. She is now a very proud Canadian Citizen. Upon relocation to Canada, Julia spent the first 12 years of life in Canada living and working in Alberta, first in Fort McMurray and then Calgary, where, whilst acclimatizing to the cold and the snow, she completed her articles and was called to the Bar in 2003.
Julia’s interest has always been in immigration law having navigated the process herself initially in obtaining a work permit and study permits for herself and her family and then through the process of obtaining permanent residence and ultimately obtaining citizenship as soon as she became eligible.
Julia’s early practice background was in general practice and she has had a decade of experience primarily practicing in Family law, Probate, Wills & Estates, Real Estate and Immigration. Julia has also completed collaborative and mediation training in order to better facilitate client’s needs for a resolution based service. However, since early 2016 she has been fortunate to be able to focus solely on practicing in Immigration law. Julia especially enjoys assisting couples and families reunite and reside permanently in Canada through available sponsorship programs .
Julia believes that one’s own personal experiences and having an understanding on a personal level of the immigration process can be invaluable in offering others relatable help and advice. She enjoys meeting new people and guiding them through the process of studying, working or emigrating to Canada; taking great pride in helping to make things a little less stressful for her clients.
Sonia is a local, born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia. After completing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Victoria she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her law degree at the University of East London. Once completing her legal studies, Sonia moved back to Victoria where she completed her NCA requirements and was called to the Bar in May 2019.
As Sonia herself has experienced living abroad, she can relate to many newcomers who are in the process of adjusting to a new country. Because of her own immigration process to pursue studies abroad, Sonia believes that being able to relate to others with similar experiences is an important aspect of providing legal services.
Sonia has always been passionate about immigration matters which has led her to be involved with various programs for many years offered at the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society (VIRCS) and continues to volunteer her time at VIRCS. She enjoys providing guidance and advice to people during a time that can often be stressful for those dealing with the immigration process.
Sonia is fluent in Punjabi and has a working knowledge of Hindi.
Sonia looks forward to serving this community and helping clients navigate the immigration system.
After engaging legal assistance from Julia, I was very happy to receive my permanent resident status in less than a year from the date I submitted my application. She efficiently addressed all my questions and was easily accessible by email, phone, or an occasional office visit. I highly recommend Julia to anyone seeking immigration assistance!

We felt like she truly cared and took her time on the case. Julia was always thorough, detail oriented and made the whole immigration experience a lot less stressful. Even without meeting Julia in person, we built a connection and trusted her 100%. We could not have done it without her and would choose her again anytime without blinking an eye.

Julia is the consummate professional and a credit to her industry. Her intimate knowledge of immigration law and Canada’s immigration system (enhanced by her own personal experience) is beyond reproach. Julia filled me with confidence as she guided me through the process of applying for PR, patiently explaining every detail throughout the process.
From the beginning Ms. Coombe has been an engaged, thorough, communicative and empathetic counselor. She was compassionate and gave every appearance of treating our deeply personal and intimate case (as many immigration cases are) with the personalized care and attention it warranted.
Working with Julia was perhaps one of the few painless and easy things about immigration to Canada. Not only did she help me organize all the necessary documents and double-check the smallest details, but she also helped me understand what I needed to accomplish every step of the way. This in turn gave me peace of mind and helped me stay on top of the process.
